Betty Lawler, 78, of Ames, died Tuesday, March 18, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral arrangements are pending with Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Betty Jean (Barnes) Lawler died Tuesday, March 18, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, in the chapel at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 2900 Hoover Ave. Her cremains will be interred with her husband's in Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Francisco.

She is survived by her three children, Lee (Sheila) Lawler, of San Bruno, Calif., Debbie Hudson (Keith) Wisell, of Pacifica, Calif., and Belinda Lawler, of Gilbert; seven adult grandchildren, Jessica (Dave) Tirazona, Mathew (Anna Lisa) Lawler, Julie Hudson, Marilee Goff (Aaron) Eischeid, Sean Goff, Russell Goff, and Casey Lawler; and eight great-grandchildren, Kodi Hudson, Alana, Allison and Michael Lawler, Aaron and Avery Tirazona, and Dominick and Jadeyn Reed. She also has many relatives in the Cedar Rapids area.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Blan Lawler; and her siblings, Frank Barnes and Marge Barnes Casteel, of Cedar Rapids.

The family requests any memorials be directed to the Bethany Life Foundation Office, 212 Lafayette St., Story City, IA, 50248.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
