THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, March 5, 2008.

May 7, 1917-March 3, 2008

Morris Dale Jones, 90, died Monday, March 3, at St. Luke Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, at First Christian Church in Spencer. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 6, at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Morris Dale Jones was born May 7, 1917, near Everly, the son of Leslie and Sadie Waters Jones. His childhood years were spent in the Everly and Spencer area where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School.

He married Katherine Thomas March 5, 1940, in Spencer. Following their marriage, they farmed near Dickens for many years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Spencer. He was active with the Golden Kiwanis and loved to camp and fish. He served for many years on the Dickens Elevator Board and the Clay County Fair Board. He also served on the Dickens School Board. He was very proud of his herd of Angus cattle. He also took care of thousands of feeder lambs.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Martha Behrens, of Ames, and Susan Brumbaugh, of Spencer; two grandchildren, Kurt Behrens, and Tara Hagen and her husband, Dan; three great-granddaughters; and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Katherine; and two sisters, Cleone Fischer and Carol Lake.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
