Wayne L. Boten Jr., 62, of Nevada, died Saturday, March 1, at home. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada.

Wayne L. Boten was born Feb. 2, 1946, in Waltham, Mass., the son of Wayne and Linda (Dacey) Boten. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1964. He served as a surgical tech medic in the U.S. Army. He worked as a railroad engineer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 37 in Ames.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Babul, of Nevada; three sons, Chris Boten, of Ames, Mike Boten, of Surprise, Ariz., and Boone Boten, of Des Moines; two daughters, Tara Hatfield, of Gilbert, and Sheena Boten, of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Donna Karns, of Billings, Mont.

He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Bill; and his first wife, "Susie."

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
