THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, February 20, 2008.

Doris Christian, 88, of rural Radcliffe, died Sunday, Feb. 17, at her home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will be in the Roland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Doris M. Christian, 88, of rural Radcliffe, died Sunday, Feb. 17, at home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Salem Lutheran Church.

Doris was born May 4, 1919, in Collins, to B. Alfred and Crescy (Downing) Ball. She married George L. Christian Jan. 17, 1941. He died April 20, 2000. She and her husband farmed north of Roland for many years. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Roland, where she was active in ladies aide, circle and taught Sunday school. She graduated from McCallsburg High School in 1936 and from Capital City Business College in Des Moines.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice (Jerry) Lewis, of Newton, and Margaret (Chancy) Bittner, of Urbandale; one son, Joel (Carol) Christian, of Peoria, Ill.; one son-in-law, Chester Creswick, of Newton; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Binkard, of Britt, and Anna Laura Carlson, of Prescott, Ariz.; one brother, Roger (Louise) Ball, of Texas; one brother-in-law, Lester Molde; and five sisters-in-law, Alice Twedt, Lois (Charles) Bane, Betty Ball, Lenore Christian and Claire (Harold) Bullington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Cecelia Creswick; and four brothers.

Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church or Wesley at Home.
