THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, February 13, 2008.

Feb. 19, 1918-Jan. 19, 2008

Annalee Morrison, 89, died Saturday, Jan. 19, at Bickford Assisted Living Cottage in Omaha, Neb. She was cremated and her ashes will be brought back to Ames this spring to rest with her husband.

Annalee Morrison was born Feb. 19, 1918, in Indianola, to Harry and Lillian Wareham. She married Darwin (Curley) Morrison March 6, 1937.

She lived in Ames from 1941 to 2006. She worked at the Iowa State University Printing Service for many years. She was a member of Collegiate Presbyterian Church and the Ames Woman's Club, and was past president of the Story County Young Republicans.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Gary Morrison, of Burbank, Calif.

Called Grandma by her family and friends, she is survived by two sons, Larry Morrison, of New London, Wis., and Terry Morrison, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Her family watched Grandma live out one of her favorite poems:

God saw she was getting tired,
And a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around her,
And whispered come home with me.
With tearful eyes we watched her linger,
And saw her fade away.
Although we loved her dearly,
You could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
A determined spirit now at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

We will all honor her last wish: Miss me a little - but let me go so you can spend your time helping others.
