THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, February 8, 2008.

Hyla Ann (Severson) Harms, 98, of Iowa Falls, died Wednesday, Feb. 6. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at United Methodist Church in Alden, with burial in Alden Cemetery.

Visitation will be two hours prior to services Saturday at the church.

Hyla Ann (Severson) Harms was born Feb. 2, 1910, in Radcliffe, to Nels and Ethel (Mason) Severson. She was one of eight children. She graduated from Radcliffe High School and taught several years in country schools in Hamilton and Hardin counties. She met Rudolph J. Harms, of Alden, at the 1933 World's Fair in Chicago. They were married March 21, 1936, and they farmed near Alden for many years.

She is survived by three children, Everett (Ann) Harms, of Alden, Dr. Dean (Mary) Harms, of Ames, and Ann (Dr. Richard) Gamble, of Spirit Lake and the Villages, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; an infant daughter; and her sisters and brothers.

Memorials may be directed to Alden Methodist Church.
