Joyce Orlene Gray, 71, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City

Joyce Orlene Gray was born Jan. 17, 1936 in Marshalltown to Orlie and Ethel (Dressen) Ellis. She worked as a real estate agent and at H&R Block for 25 years. She had lived in Mesa for 12 years and Story City prior to that. Joyce enjoyed quilting and had made a quilt for everybody in the family. She liked to travel and loved outdoor recreation activities. She also collected dolls, and her family was very important to her.

She is survived by her longtirne companion Walter Mortvedt of Mesa, Arizona; three sons, Rodney (Laura) Gray of Harrison, Nebraska, Larry (Barb) Gray of Toledo, Iowa, and Terry (Julie) Gray of Toledo, Iowa; one daughter, Karna (Doug) Kittelson of Hayti, South Dakota; three sisters, Barbara Spinler of Russell, Iowa, Marjorie Doyle of Tama, Iowa, and Carol Wacha of Newton, Iowa; and fourteen grandchildren, Naomi, Levi, Colt, Heath, Garret, Zebadiah, Zane, Brianna, Tara, Thad, Jacie, Dixie, Denise and Davita.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents.
