Maxine (Godwin) Nibe, 81, of Pittsford, New York, died Monday, Feb 12, 2007 in Pittsford. Funeral arrange ments are pending. Maxine was the wife of Melbourne Nibe. See next week's Herald for full obituary.

Maxine May Godwin Nibe passed away Feb. 12, 2007 in Rochester, New York. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 15 at the Orthodox Church in Pittsford.
Maxine was born Jan. 22, 1926 in Baird, Iowa to Carl and Alta Godwin. She was married to Melbourne Nibe of Story City on Jan. 12, 1943 at her parents' home near Boone.
Her parents and brother Richard Godwin pre-deceased her. She is survived by her husband, Melbourne Nibe, three children, Phyllis Ashe, RADM Richard Nibe, USN (Ret) and Dianne Clader, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She was a great lady, a wonderful wife, a loving mother, and an accomplished artist. She was full of life and had a great sense of humor. Her family will always cherish their memories of her as a loving mother. Her love of family and her zeal for life are reflected in the artwork she left behind.
Maxine loved to travel at home and abroad and had lived in Tripoli, Libya and the Philippine Islands. The highlight of her travels was a trip to China with her daughter, Phyllis Ashe.
Maxine loved her Lord, and was well prepared to meet her Savior. She had served as a Deaconess for several years at Alamo Heights Christian Church in San Antonio, Texas. Upon moving to Pittsford, New York, Maxine and Mel joined the Orthodox Church. She now has been transformed to new life in God's Heavenly Kingdom.
