Marlene J. Sebring, 70, of Story City, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial was in Lawn Hill Cemetery near Stanhope.

Marlene Sebring was born Jan. 13, 1936 in Stratford to Richard and Lilliam (Selheim) Miller. She married LeRoy Sebring on April 27, 1991. She worked as a nurse at Bethany Manor for many years. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and played the organ and piano at Bethany Manor and at Bethel. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, loved to bake and cook and loved to have her family around.

Marlene is survived by her husband, LeRoy of Story City; four sons, Jim Branch (Joan) of Zion, Illinois, David Branch of Panama City, Florida, Jack Branch (Diane) of Sarasota, Florida, Paul Branch of Boone; three daughters, JoAnn Johnson of Millbrook, Alabama, Helen Branch of Boone and Angie Craig (Gary) of Story City; a stepson, Mark Sebring of Story City; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Raymond Miller of Gloucester, Virginia and Glenn Miller; and two sisters, Kathleen Newton (Melvin) of Boone and Bonnie McDougal (Dennis) of Colfax.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Miller; a sister, Lisa Miller and two granddaughters, Stephanie and Jessica Johnson.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church.
