Richard G. Jacobson, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be in the Story City Cemetery.
Richard Jacobson was born March 31, 1915 to Josephine Jorgensen Jacobson and Ole A. Jacobson. He graduated from Gilbert High School at the age of 16.
Richard married Helen Mortvedt on March 25, 1939 at St. Petri Lutheran Church. After farming, he moved to Story City in 1949 and bought the Shell Station. He also owned the Treat Shop in the mid 50's. Richard worked for TWA at the Cape in Florida for 10 years and saw many flights to the moon. When he returned to Story City he worked eight years at the Story City Hospital and at the Riverbend Golf Course many years.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Forrest Chambliss, Dothan, Alabama and Bethany and Robert Wallace, Columbus, Ohio; two grandsons, Mark and Amanda Chambliss, Headland, Alabama and Rick and- — Malisa Chambliss, Memphis, Tennessee; a granddaughter, Julie and Kent Smith, Columbus, Ohio; great-grandson Avery Chambliss, Memphis, Tennessee and great-granddaughter, Catelyn Chambliss, Headland, Alabama; and a sister, June Cooper, Princeton, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, on Sept. 14, 1995 and a brother, Jonas Jacobson in 2002.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.
