David H. Kruse, 75, of Brownsville, Texas, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006 at his home.

He was born Aug. 7, 1931 in Lima, Ohio to Kenneth and Grace Kruse. David graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Poultry Science. He also was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. On Dec. 19, 1953 David married Dorothy Rockhill in Marshalltown, Iowa. David was employed in Poultry with Ames In-Cross; Ag Production on his own with Kruse Enterprise; owned and operated Kruse's Sundry Store; and worked in sales with Standard Oil Company, all in Roland. In 1969 Dave and Dorothy moved to New Albin, Iowa. David traveled throughout the mid-west working in sales with Hess and Clark until he retired in 1986. After the completion of their retirement home overlooking the Mississippi River, Dave and Dorothy moved to Brownsville in 1992.

Dave was a member of St. Peter's Church in New Albin, Iowa where he served on the church council. He also was a member of Brownsville Green and he was a supporter of the Common Weal Theater in Lanesboro, Minnesota.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy "T." of Brownsville; a daughter, Brenda "BJ" (Don)
Taylor of Copperas, Texas; and two sisters, Polly Silberman of Chicago, Illinois, and Helen Baroniak of Helen, Maryland.

David was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karla Joy Kruse; and two sisters, Mary Bailey and Ruthie Arnold.

Memorial services were held Friday, Dec. 29, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Community Church in New Albin, Iowa. Rev. William J. Reese, Ph.D. officiated. Any memorials will be given to the Karla Joy Kruse Scholarship Fund.

Haugen-RobleJandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, was in charge of arrangements.
