THE STORY CITY HERALD, Story City, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, January 9, 2008.

Alida Grinde, age 77, of Iowa Falls, died on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls with burial in the Union Cemetery. Visitation was from 2 - 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. I at Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

Alida M. Grinde was born July 3, 1930 at Austinville, Iowa the daughter of Lyle and Lena Neymeyer Elliott. She received her education in Aplington and graduated from Aplington High School with the class of 1948 and later graduated from Waterloo School of Beauty Culture in 1950.

Alida was united in marriage to John Grinde on Nov. 11, 1951 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Alida loved her family most of all and did anything she could for her children and grandchildren. She worked with her hands making things beautiful. She enjoyed making crafts, crocheting and flower arrangements. She worked as a beautician at Helen's Beauty Shop in Alden for many years. Her flower garden was her pride and joy - no weed survived in her garden.

Alida also enjoyed having coffee with her friends. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her mother, Lena Elliott of Aplington; her sons, Grant of Mason City and Clark and his wife Betty of Story City; grandchildren, Emma and John; two sisters-in-law, Grace Elliott and Elsie Kannegieter; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, son Lee, father Lyle, and two brothers, Allen and Jim.
