Gladys Joy McCaffrey, 93, of Port Townsend, Wash., and formerly of Ames, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Kah Tai Care Center in Port Townsend. A celebration of life was Friday, Jan. 18, at Kosec's Funeral Home in Port Townsend. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, in the Calvary section of Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames.

The family will greet family and friends one hour prior to the graveside service Wednesday at Adams Funeral Home, 502 Douglas Ave., in Ames.

Gladys Joy McCaffrey was born Nov. 25, 1914, in Langdon, N.D. Her family moved to Camden, Ark., in 1924. After high school graduation in 1932, she moved to Ames, where she met and married Bud McCaffrey. She had lived in Port Townsend for more than 30 years and was an active member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles for many of those years, serving as president as well as other committees and offices.

She is survived by one son, John McCaffrey and wife, Rita, of Las Vegas; two daughters, Janet Crouse and husband, Roger, of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Julie Rohring and husband, Terry, of Port Townsend; six grandchildren, Cassie Coon and husband, Chris, of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Tami Hewitt and husband, John, of Port Townsend, Tracee Nye and husband, Alcyone, of Port Townsend, Michael McCaffrey, of Las Vegas, Sean McCaffrey and wife, Dana, of Las Vegas, and Kathleen Drury and husband, Patrick, of Chicago; 13 great-grandchildren, Sarah, Katharine and Christopher Coon, Cody and Jourdan Hewitt, Alexandra and Makena Nye, Matthew, Tatum and Nathanial Drury, and Cynthia, Kimberly and Brandon McCaffrey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. "Bud" McCaffrey, in 1961; her parents; three bothers; and four sisters.
