COLO - Ray G. Weir, 79, lifelong Colo resident, died at his home in Colo, Iowa on Sunday, December 23, 2007. Per his request, his body was donated to the University of Iowa Medical College in Iowa City and no services are planned.

Ray was born in Colo, Iowa on July 22, 1928, to Orville & Nellie (Jones) Weir. He attended Colo High School and graduated in 1945.

He owned and operated Weirs' Trucking and Shelling for many years, and Weirs Real Estate and Insurance. Ray was a Charter Member of the Colo Lions Club and served on many boards in the Colo Community and Story County.

Survivors include Jean, his wife of 58 years; two sons: Randy (Carolyn) Weir of Marshalltown, Iowa and Ben (Margaret) Weir of Colo, Iowa; one daughter, Marcia (Monte) Nilles of What Cheer, Iowa; 7 grandchildren: Kim DeWitt, Jeremy DeWitt, Michelle (Dustin) Baumgardner, Chad (Hannah) Weir, Stephanie Weir, Tiffany Weir and Mari Ann Nilles; 3 great grandchildren: Mattanah DeWitt, Micaiah DeWitt and Tristan Weir: two brothers: Harold (Fern) Weir of Iowa City, Iowa and Vern (Jan) Weir of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters: Edna Ward of Ankeny, Iowa and Lois Jay of Colo, Iowa

Bacon Funeral Homes & Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
