NEVADA - Frieda Kaduce, age 87, of Belmond, died Tuesday (Jan. 1, 2008) at the Story County Medical Center, Nevada.
Funeral services for Frieda Kaduce were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond with Carolyn Pflibsen, Associate in Ministry, officiating. Burial was in the Belmond Cemetery.
Visitation was held Jan. 6, 2008, at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond.
Frieda Steinwandt, a first-generation American, was born on Jan. 16, 1920, in Eagle Grove to German/Russian immigrants, Chris and Dorthea (Dotz) Steinwandt.
Frieda was married to Sidney Harris from Jan. 30, 1944, until his death in 1982. She married Ted Kaduce in 1985 and was married to him until his death in 1998. She worked at the Post Office as a custodian for 13 years, and for five years she volunteered at the Loan Closet in Belmond.
Frieda was active in the community as a member of the Grandmothers Club and the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Pearl's Circle.
Family was most important to Frieda. She was a tactfully outspoken lady, always willing to help someone out. She was very friendly, made friends easily. Frieda was a bound and determined individual, and never complained. She had an excellent memory and a strong interest in genealogy.
Frieda is survived by her children, Jolene
(Richard) Prelip of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dale (Kathi) Harris of Des Moines, Glenn (Marilyn) Harris of Nevada, Iowa, and Terry (Theresa) Harris of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Carl, John, Henry; and two sisters, Olga and Marie.She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Sidney Harris and Ted Kaduce; a brother, Jake, and a sister, Rose.
