Irv Knutson, age 80, formerly of Garden City, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Burial was at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Irvin Joseph Knutson was born the son of Isaac and Josie (Johnson) Knutson on May 4, 1924 on the family farm (now the Marcus and Pam Stolee farm) three miles south of Radcliffe. He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church.
He grew up on the family farm and attended rural school Concord No. 4.

On July 24, 1944 he was united in marriage to Elsie Smith of Leavenworth, Kansas. They spent most of their working life farming around Garden City, Iowa. In 1976, they moved into Garden City. He enjoyed reading, camping, fishing, hunting and tractor pulls.

Survivors include four daughters, Joyce (John) Meyers of Story City, Linda (Dick) Hebron of Garden City, Diane (Kenny) Swenson of Story City and Marcia (Steve) Davis of Radcliffe; one son, Roger (Mary) Knutson of Hubbard; and 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren;
great-great-grandson; one sister, Burdene Stolee of the Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie; two granddaughters, April Marie Davis and Emily Davis; two sisters, Orva Hodnefield Severseike and Esther Oehlsen; and three brothers, Arlen, Dale, and James Knutson.
