Esther Ione Swanson, 68, of Winterset, passed away Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005 at the Winterset Care Center. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Visitation preceded the service. Burial followed at the Roland Cemetery.

Esther was born Feb. 10, 1937 near Roland to Joseph and Orva (Olson) Swanson. She graduated from Roland High School. She briefly taught and worked at the Social Security Offices in California and Washington, D.C. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church.

Esther enjoyed arts and crafts, reading, visiting with friends, and loved to go swimming.

She is survived by a brother, Jerry Swanson of San Pedro, California and 10 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, JoAnn M. Jacobson and a brother, Herb Swanson.
