Velda Irene Cagwin, 93 of Nevada died on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Story County Long Term Care. Funeral services were held 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 11 at Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services 708 Fifth Street, Nevada, IA. Burial followed in the Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center.

Velda was born on October 21, 1914 in Maxwell to George and Nellie (Ray) Coughenour. She graduated from Maxwell High School. On July 9, 1945, Velda married Eugene R. Cagwin in Des Moines. She loved being with her grandchildren. Velda was a great cook and enjoyed gardening.

Velda is survived by a son, Richard (Janelle) Cagwin of Ames; a daughter, Sharon (Hershel) Graham of Nixa, MO; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

Velda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene on March 30, 2007, 2 brothers Ray and Rollin Coughenour.

Visitation was held Monday, December 10 with the family present at Chet Ryan Mortuary.
