Robert William Baskerville was born on July 30, 1924 at his grandparents' farm home in Sac County to Albert William and Kathryn Anna (Montgomery) Baskerville. He graduated in 1942 from Fonda High School.
During high school he was Junior and Senior class president, lettered in football, basketball and baseball. Following graduation he served in the United States Navy during WWII as an Aviation Radioman Third Class. After his honorable discharge he returned to Fonda, purchased and operated B and B Locker with his wife. He also played semipro baseball for a Fonda team.
In later years he worked for Safeway and as a meat inspector for the State of Iowa.
He married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Ann Kelly, on Nov. 20, 1945, at OLGC Church in Fonda. Robert was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Baskerville on July 18, 1976, parents, and his sister and brother-in-law, Dorathy and Don Chase.
He is survived by his children, Kathleen Baskerville of Perry, Jean Johnson and husband Don of Story City, Robert Joseph Baskerville and wife Jo of Raymore, Missouri, Mary Baskerville of Bouton and Lisa Blitz, Steph of Perry; grandchildren Hysaon, Seth, Kali and Melissa; three great-grandchildren, the extended Sapp family and numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life and visitation for Robert Baskerville, age 83, of Perry was held Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. A scripture service by Father Polich was held at 3 p.m.
Contributions will be given to Home Care Services Inc. (Meals on Wheels) in Adel, Iowa.
Robert died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 at his residence in Perry.
