William L. Henderson, age 55, died on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 at his rural home near Ellsworth.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 10, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Radcliffe, with Rev. Craig Benson officiating. Bill was buried at Radcliffe Cemetery in Radcliffe.

Friends could call at Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family was present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

William Lee Henderson was born August 13, 1952 in Story City to Willard and Alvira (Johnson) Henderson. He was raised on the family farm near Ellsworth, the youngest of three children. William was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. In 1970, he graduated from South Hamilton High School in Jewell. William began farming while attending college, and graduated from Iowa State University in 1975, with a degree in Agricultural Business.

On Sept. 13, 1975 William was united in marriage to Kathryn Hodnefield. During their 32 years of marriage, they lived and farmed in the Ellsworth, Roland and Radcliffe communities. William was a site manager for Iowa Select for eight years.

William was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, rural Radcliffe, and served as a trustee and Sunday school teacher for the adult class. He was a talented woodworker and crafted furniture for his home. He enjoyed the game of golf, loved nature and enjoyed family trips to Lake Superior and national parks. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, son and brother.

William passed away at his home on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 following a courageous four-year battle with cancer. He was a witness of God's love, greatness and faithfulness.

Those thankful for having shared his life include his wife Kathryn of Ellsworth; son, Brian and his wife Molly Henderson of Lanyon; daughter, Laura Henderson of Rock Springs, Wyoming; mother, Alvira Henderson of Story City; sisters, Mary Jane Hodnefield and Jacque Young both of Story City; sister-in-law, Cynthia Lee and husband Myron of Waco, Texas; sister-in-law Virginia Hodnefield of Vancouver, Washington; along with nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

William was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
