Erwin F. Burginger, 94, of Story City, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 6th at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date at the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Erwin Frank Burginger was born Feb. 18, 1913 to Ernest and Emma (Sour) Burginger in Cottonwood County, Minnesota. After graduating high school, he served in the CCP from 1934 to 1935. He married Ora B. Werner on Dec. 15, 1938. Erwin farmed until he moved to Story City in 1974.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Erwin was an active volunteer around town and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening vegetables and flowers, woodworking, and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife Ora of Story City; two daughters, Diane (Harold) Gerdes of Fulda, Minnesota, and Lois (Clayton) Ludvigson of Iowa City; one son, Dale Burginger of Story City; one brother, Roman Burginger of Prescott Valley, Arizona; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Story City Senior Citizens Center.
