Adeline Gladys Cook, 93, of Story City died September 19, 2007 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were held Saturday September 22, 2007 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial was in Lincoln Cemetery in Zearing.
Adeline was born April 19, 1914 in Radcliffe to Iver and Alice (Heng) Hodnefield. She married Dale D. Cook on April 2, 1938. He died in 1978. Adeline and Dale farmed near Zearing until moving to Story City in 1977. She was a nurse at Story City Hospital for many years. Adeline was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a 1931 graduate of Radcliffe High School and Iowa Lutheran School of Nursing. Adeline volunteered at Bethany Manor, enjoyed fishing and fishing trips, quilting and rock collecting. She and Lucille Christian enjoyed going to garage sales and auctions together. Adeline was known for her caring spirit, love of nature and political interests.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Cook of Ssiloam Springs, Arkansas and Jim (Jan) Cook of Zearing; a daughter, Mary Predovich (Dan) of Sedalia, CO; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Larson of Radcliffe and Ardice Cammack of Hubbard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Cook; a son, Harlan; a grandson, Dane; two brothers, Irving and Maynard Hodnefield and a sister, Helena Ullestad.Memorials may be made to Hubbard Care Center or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
