M. Helene (Smith) Comstock, Baxter, Iowa. Helene died September 18, 2007 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, Iowa.

She was born March 30, 1930 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Richard and Nellie Smith. Helene grew up in the Nevada area where she graduated from Nevada High School. She married Robert Comstock July 1, 1949 and was blessed with 53 years of marriage before his death in 2002.

She worked in retail sales during her life. Helene enjoyed spending time with her family. She taught Sunday school for 33 years at the United Church of Christ in Baxter, she served her church as a deaconate, was a campfire and Girl Scout leader and active in the Baxter women's club.

Helene will be missed by her children: Laura (Alvin) Hartgers, Teresa (Loren) Garr, five grandchildren: Jon (Deb) Hartgers, Jacob Hartgers, Amanda Garr, Walter Garr and Jesse Garr, three great grandchildren: Zachary Hartgers, Michael Hartgers, and Allie Garr, one granddaughter in law: Catrina Hartgers, one brother: Kenneth Muse.

She is reunited in heaven with her loving husband Robert (Bob), grandson: Jamie Hartgers, her parents, and brother Dick Smith.

Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday Sept. 20 at Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter. Graveside funeral service was held Sept. 21 at Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Monarch Hospice at Skiff Medical Center in Helene's memory may be made.

Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter has cared for Helene and her family.
