THE ROLAND RECORD, Roland, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, December 19, 1929.

Mrs. Ole Christian (nee Jorina Twedt) was born November 24, 1842 at Skaanevik, Bergen, Norway, and died at her home in Roland December 11, 1929, at the age of 87 years and 17 days.

She emigrated to America in 1866 and settled at Lisbon, Ill. She was united in marriage March 28, 1867 to Ole Christian. In 1879 they moved to Iowa and settled on the Christian homestead 3 miles south of Roland where they lived until 20 years ago when they moved to Roland. Mr. Christian died March 19, 1910.

Ten children were born to this union, Cass O. Christian of Blue Earth, Minn.; T. O. Christian of Paynesville, Minn.; John M. Christian of south of Roland; Albert Christian of Elmore, Minn.; Charles E. Christian of McCallsburg, Henry O. Christian of Kenyan, Minn.; Mrs. E. O. Munson of Story City; Mrs. E. B. Erickson of Roland; Olaf B. Christian of McCallsburg, and Mrs. Jane Erickson of Roland. All the children survive and were present at the funeral of their mother. She also leaves 59 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Christian residence and at Bergen Lutheran church, of which she was a member, Rev. M. O. Sumsatd officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Roland cemetery.

Mrs. Christian was able to be up and around until two weeks before her death, when she was taken seriously ill. She was one of the oldest residents of the community.

Munson of Medford, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Olson and Erick Christian of Jewell; Mrs. Betsey Boyd of Story City; Mr. and Mrs. Homer Gaard of Garden City; Mr. and Mrs. Lars Hougland of McCallsburg; Mrs. James Rose of Elkhart; Arlot Christian of Cedar Falls; Olive Christian and Marguerite Christian of Des Moines.
