THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 6, 2007.

Feb. 23, 1934-Aug. 31, 2007

Mary Stoecker, 73, of Ames, died Friday, Aug. 31, in San Francisco. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, with Pastor Chris Olkiewicz officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Mary Stoecker was born Feb. 23, 1934, in Charles City, to Raymond and Leone (Frederick) Mitchell. She received her high school diploma and enrolled at Iowa State University. She had been a secretary for Edwards Elementary School for 27 years.

She married Robert Stoecker Sept. 16, 1956, in Charles City.

She was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, enjoyed cross stitching projects and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Douglas Stoecker, of Indianapolis, Steven Stoecker, of Ames, Curtis (Gina) Stoecker, of Stratford, and Julie (Michael) Rolf, of Ankeny; three sisters, Nancy Nieman, Marge Squier and Sue Baker; six brothers, Jim Mitchell, George Mitchell, Don Mitchell, Bill Mitchell, Dean Mitchell and Bob Mitchell; as well as eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1999; and her parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Adams Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to St. Andrews Lutheran Church.
