Virginia Carmack, 79, was called home Saturday, September 1, 2007. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 5th at 10:30 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church at 3900 Ashworth road in West Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation and Prayer services were Tuesday, September 4th, 2007 at McLaren's Funeral Chapel at 801 19th Street in West Des Moines. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown.

Virginia was born Virginia Mae Thake on August 24, 1928, to Leland and Elsie Thake in State Center. She is remembered by her sisters, LaDonna Yoakum, Pauline Hintze, and one brother Kenneth Thake. Her life will continue to be celebrated by her children and grandchildren, Linda and Patrick McCarthy, Carole and Chris Crall, Lori and John Mozena and Michael and Becky Carmack, Troy Baumann and Shannon McCarthy, Jeremy Stewart, Garrett and Katelyn Mozena, Erin Crall, Jordan Stewart and Kendall Carmack. She is preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Barbara.

Her family and friends will miss her smile, her wit and her unwavering love for the Cubs and the Cyclones.
