Joseph Elder, 86, died Thursday, Aug. 16, at Colonial Manor in Zearing. Arrangements are pending with Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Joseph "Joe" Elder, 86, of Story City and formerly of Cambridge, died Thursday, Aug. 16, at Colonial Manor in Zearing. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Cambridge Cemetery.

Joe Elder was born April 27, 1921, in Cambridge, to Joseph Lee and Lillian (Dueland) Elder.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda (David) McVicker, of Story City; one son, Ron (Shirley) Elder, of Emorado, N.D.; one sister, Evelyn Link, of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Imogene; one daughter, Jolene Appelgate; one granddaughter, Katie Elder; one brother, Don Elder; and one sister, Doris Applegate.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City is in charge of arrangements.
