Darlene Zora Sills Trow, 93, of Ames, died Friday, Aug. 3, at Riverside Manor in Ames. The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Collegiate Presbyterian Church with a celebration of her life following the service. In honor of Darlene, please wear bright, happy colors.

Darlene Zora Sills Trow was born July 16, 1914, in Ames, to Carrell and Frankie V. Sills. She graduated from Ames High School in 1934 and attended American Institute of Business in Des Moines. She started her career in the Extension Department at Iowa State University as a secretary and report clerk. She married Earl Edward Trow June 10, 1938, in Bethany, Mo. For many years, they operated Trow Milk and Vending, which later became TAVCO Inc.

She was a member of Collegiate Presbyterian Church. She was very active in the business community. In 1984, the Ames Chamber of Commerce honored her as "Outstanding Woman in Business" and in 1991, she was awarded Women Helping Women by Soroptimist International of North Central.

She is survived by two daughters, Pat Hulsey, of Ames, and Peggy (Joe) Campos, of Alvarado, Texas; one son, Jim (Sue), of Ames; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The sixth grandchild, Rebecca Lou, preceded her in death.
