John N. (Jack) Wierson of Story City, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 16, 2006. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 19 at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City.

Jack was born Jan. 27, 1928 to Celia and John Wierson in Story City. He was confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City and graduated from Story City High School in 1945. On Aug. 8, 1970 he married his wife of 36 years, Shirley, at the First United Methodist Church in Boone.

He retired after 15 years of service with Heartland Senior Bus Service. He was a past president and longtime member of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). Jack was a man of various talents and opportunities.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley and was blessed with a large family including Ron Nunn, Geni Kester, Chere Chelsvig, Terri Finnegan, Robin McClure, Gary Nunn, Ray Wierson, Claudia Anderson, Ron Wierson, Pat Vulgamott, Karen Hadgeson, Mary Ann Dyer, Louis Kidd, Margaret Armstrong-Phillips, and Delores Root; three brothers, Stan Wierson, Philip Wierson and Paul Wierson; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in Jack's name at the Companion Animal Clinic, PO Box 119, Gilbert, Iowa because we understand Jack's love and kindness toward all God's creatures, large and small.
