Susan J. Bjorkgren died peacefully Friday, July 20, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 5, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Susan Jane Dunham Bjorken was born Nov. 9, 1949, to John Roth and Helen (Bay) Dunham. She grew up in Dunlap, graduating from Dunlap Community High School in 1967. She moved to Ames to attend Iowa State University, earning a degree in music in 1971. In 1986 she received a second degree from ISU in accounting and successfully passed the test to become a CPA. Sue became a partner in the David M. Klatt and Associates, Public Accounting Firm and had worked there for the last 20 years. Sue was active in the community, serving on the Northcrest Board, Story County Cyclone Board, Mary Greeley Foundation Investment Committee and was financial adviser for the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, of which she was a member while attending ISU. She was a United Way volunteer and a member of Ames Golf and Country Club for many years.

Sue is survived by her husband and best friend of 25 years, Craig (BJ) Bjorkgren, of Ames; her mother, Helen, of Dunlap; one brother, Thomas C. (Ann) Dunham, of McKinney, Texas; one sister, Mary (Richard) Clark, of West Des Moines; mother- and father-in-law, Maryanna and Art Bjorkgren, of Boone; one sister-in-law, Lynn Bjorkgren, of St. Louis, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Melissa (Russ) Stout, Nathan (Marsha) Smithey, Courtney Clark, Jeff (Sonja) Clark, and Dawn (Tim) Edwards; and great nieces and nephews, Hailey, Trey, Maggie, Grace, Alli, Alex, and Austin.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1987.

In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established to be distributed to the Animal Rescue League, the Israel Family Hospice House, and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Becker Funeral and Cremation Service of Jewell is entrusted with arrangements.
