She was a stenographer in Des Moines and for Iowa State University before living with her husband at Fort Sill, Okla., in the early World War II years. She married Robert Earl Beaty Jr. Dec. 26, 1942, at St. John's Church in Des Moines. They had been Ames residents since 1945 when Bob returned from the service.
