Charlotte Elizabeth Roderuck, 87, of Ames, died Saturday, July 7, in Ames. Services will be at a later date in Maryland. Burial will be in Glade Cemetery in Walkersville, Md.
Charlotte Elizabeth Roderuck was born Dec. 2, 1919, in Walkersville, Md., to George E. and Margaret H. (Hedges) Roderuck. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1940, a master's degree from Washington State University in 1942, and a doctorate degree in biochemistry from the University of Iowa in 1949.
Some of the positions she held throughout her career include research chemist at Research Laboratory, Children's Fund of Michigan from 1942-46; graduate teaching assistant in the Chemistry Department at the University of Iowa from 1946-48; assistant professor in the Food and Nutrition Department at Iowa State University from 1948-51; associate professor in the Food and Nutrition Department at ISU from 1951-54; and professor from 1954 until she retired Oct. 31, 1988.
International professional experiences included positions in India, Nigeria, Central America and South Korea.
She was a member of the American Institute of Nutrition, American Home Economics Association, Society for Nutrition Education, American Chemical Society, New York Academy of Sciences, Iowa Academy of Sciences, Sigma Xi and Phi Kappa Phi.
She is survived by one brother, Harold Roderuck, of Walkersville, Md.; three sisters, Catherine Shriver, of Sulphur, Okla., Florence R. Garst, of Keymar, Md., and Doris Flanigan, of Rocky Ridge, Md.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Memorials may be directed to the ISU Foundation in her honor.
