Rose Marie Amtower, 78, of Manhattan, Kan., died Monday, June 25, at St. Joseph Village, Manhattan, Kan. A rosary will be recited at 7 tonight at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home in Manhattan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 28, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan, Kan. A visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 30, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. in Ames Municipal Cemetery, with Father Ivan Nienhaus officiating.

Rose Marie Amtower was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Cumberland, Md., to Walter Jennings and Rose Anna (Breighner) Milburn. She was a graduate of Cumberland High School.

She married Warren C. Amtower Aug. 9, 1948, in Cumberland. He preceded her in death April 13, 1978.

She moved to Ames in 1950 and worked as a cook for many years at St. Cecilia Catholic Church and School. In 1981, she moved to Deming, N.M., and spent many volunteer hours at the Deming/Luna County Museum. She had been a Manhattan, Kan., resident since 1993.

She is survived by two sons, Eric Amtower, of Ames, and Kirk (Jolene) Amtower, of Manhattan, Kan.; three grandchildren, Brandon (Monica) Amtower, Courtney (John) Lloyd and Drake Amtower; and one great-granddaughter, Aundrea Marie Lloyd.
