THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, June 7, 2007.

Nov. 24, 1918-June 5, 2007

Shirley Mae (Henry) Trudeau, 88, died Tuesday, June 5, in Boone. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Faith Lutheran Church, 708 Locust St., in Odebolt, with burial in Odebolt Cemetery.

Shirley Mae (Henry) Trudeau was born Nov. 24, 1918, in Sioux City, to Bert and Alice (Blonge) Henry. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City and later attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.

She married Lawrence Trudeau of Elk Point, S.D., June 7, 1942, in San Antonio, where he was stationed in the U.S. Army Air Corps. They later made their home in Odebolt, where they lived for many years. She was active in her church, in bridge groups and with her many friends in the community and worked as a secretary and grade school teacher's aide. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cared for her husband for many years before his passing in 1999, and in 2002, she moved to Ames to be near her family. She was blessed with a cheery disposition, a caring and generous nature and a great sense of humor. She loved her family and friends, loved to share a laugh, even at her own expense, and she had a strong faith in the goodness of God. She will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Trudeau and Linda's husband, Paul Kaufmann, of Ames; her stepdaughters, Margaret (Russell) Hanson, of Elk Point, S.D., Donna Hoklin, of Laurel, Mont., and Sherril (Francis) Christensen, of Yankton, S.D.; two grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and many great- and great great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 4 p.m. Friday, June 8, with a prayer service at 5 p.m., at Farber and Otteman Funeral Home, 400 S. Locust St., Odebolt.
