Thomas William Henry Bullock, 89, of Nevada, died on Friday, May 18, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Thomas was born on Jan. 22, 1918, in rural Colo, to Thomas and Elnora (Wilkening) Bullock. He was raised on the family farm and graduated in 1938 from Colo High School.
He was a lifelong resident of Story County, and lived the majority of his life in Nevada. Tom was married to Dorothy Shayer on Sept. 22, 1943, at the Lutheran Church in State Center. He worked on the family farm, as a mechanic for Slemmons Brothers in Nevada, and retired in 1984 from the National Animal Disease Laboratory in Ames.
Tom's passion was bowling until his health failed. He enjoyed playing his guitar and harmonica whenever he could. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada and was a member of the Moose Lodge for many years.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Nevada; two sons, Larry (Sherry) Bullock, of Cedar Rapids and David (Elisa) Bullock, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; one daughter, Connie Clark, of Ames; four grandchildren, Marne (Kelly) Steinke, of Cedar Rapids, Chris (Sandy) Clark, of Nevada, Monte (Tammy) Bullock, of Tulare, Calif., and Kyle (Rendee) Clark, of Nevada; six great grandchildren; and one sister, Agnes Jacobs, of Nevada.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Monday, May 21, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th Street in Nevada.
A memorial fund has been established in Tom's name for the Story County Medical Center Building Foundation.
Chet Ryan Mortuary, in Nevada, has been entrusted with Tom's arrangements.
