THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, May 9, 2007.

July 26, 1916-May 4, 2007

Glennadine (Motts) Lester, 90, of Ames, died Friday, May 4, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ames, with the Rev. David Digby officiating. Burial will be in Bondurant.

Glennadine Lester was born July 26, 1916, in Des Moines, the daughter of Glenn and Mabel Motts. She married Roy James Lester Sept. 23, 1936. The couple lived in Des Moines before coming to Ames in 1944. She was an active partner for 32 years in operating Lester Refrigeration Service, where she was known for always having the coffeepot on for visitors at the shop. In fact, salesmen often would arrange their visits to take advantage of a delicious home-cooked noon meal.

Her favorite pastime was needlework, particularly quilting. During her lifetime, dozens of heirloom quilts were created and given to relatives and friends. She also enjoyed visits from a steady stream of friends who loved to drop by the house. Never passing up occasions for a change of pace, she took special delight in eating out and attending area musical events. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ames.

She is survived by her five children, James Lester, of Ames; Linda (Dan) Morris, of Prescott, Ariz.; Elaine (Woody) Farmer, of Littleton, Colo.; Janice Lester (Harold Ellis), of Wayne, Neb.; and Howard "Butch" (Ann) Lester, of Ames; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jane Egnoske, of Pocatello, Idaho; and three "adopted sons," Dwain "Pete" Peterson, Brian Dangelser and Dennis Wendell, all of Ames.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Helen "Billie" Ewart and Delores Quick.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or Rolling Green Village.

Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
