Harriett Lamphere Hopkins Geisler, 90, of Ames, died Friday, April 20, at Story County Medical Center-Long Term Care in Nevada. The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 27, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. Burial of the cremains will be in Rose Hill Cemetery west of Boone.
Harriett Geisler was born July 13, 1916, in Logansport, the daughter of John and Lula (Bowen) Lamphere. She married Lowell M. Hopkins Oct. 14, 1933, in Boone. The couple later divorced. She later married Earl Geisler. She was a cook at several Boone restaurants and, most recently, the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. She was a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge in Nevada. She was active with Toys for Tots.
She is survived by four daughters, Joyce Keith, of Ellicott, Colo., Shirley Calmer and Lola Sorenson, both of Boone, and Peggy (Fred) Jack, of Bay City, Texas; two sons, Jim Hopkins, of Boone, and John (Rosalee) Hopkins, of Yoder, Colo.; one foster son, Al Norlin, of Norwalk; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two daughters, Patricia Martin and Nancy Jones; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers; and five sisters.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone, where the family will be present. Visitation will continue from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday, April 27, at the funeral chapel and then from noon until time of service at the church.
