Sept. 21, 1942-April 11, 2007

Nancy Sedgwick, 64, died Wednesday, April 11, at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz. Services were today at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, with Pastor Randy Gehring officiating. Burial was in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Nancy Sedgwick was born Sept. 21, 1942, in Ames, to Harold and Evelyn (Paulson) Hegland. She completed four years of college. She married Glenn Sedgwick Sept. 9, 1967, at Bethesda Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and social worker, doing companion work with Homeward for five years.

She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, where she volunteered for senior dinners and the food pantry. She was a Peace Corps volunteer on the Island of Yap in the Pacific Ocean.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn, of Tempe, Ariz.; three sons, Jonathan, of Highland Falls, N.Y., David, of New York City, and Mark (Courtney), of Savage, Minn.; one granddaughter, Taylor; and one brother, David Hegland, of Nashville, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Joyce; and one brother, Steven.

Memorials may be given to the Central Iowa Chapter of Alzheimer's Association or Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Adams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
