Stella M. Carley, 91, of Huxley, died Tuesday, March 27, in Las Vegas, Nev. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley, with Pastor Tom Hilger officiating. Burial will be in Fjeldberg Cemetery.

Stella M. Carley was born Feb. 22, 1916, in Cambridge, to Albert and Margaret (Johnson) Birkestrand. She was a sales auditor for Younkers. She was a member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church and a longtime community member.

Survivors include one son, Mark (Pat) Carley, of Marshalltown; two daughters, Sandra Carley, of Las Vegas, and Karolyn Grosnickle, of Victorville, Calif.; one sister, JoAnne Gregg, of Decorah; one brother, Clifford Birkestrand, of Huxley; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Arnold and John.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater is in charge of arrangements.
