David Leroy Sinn, 62, of Colfax, died Thursday, March 22, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton of cancer. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Mackey Methodist Church north of Boone. To get to the Mackey Cemetery, from U.S. Highway 30, drive north on Highway 17 six miles, turn east (right) onto E18 (at the cellular tower) and drive one mile. Turn north on V Avenue, and the church and cemetery will be on the right.

David Leroy Sinn was born April 11, 1944, in Boone, to Roland and Thelma (Williams) Sinn. He married Ruth Ann Last Sept. 4, 1970, in Boone. He was employed by Iowa State University Food Service in June 1969, where he worked until his retirement in June 2002. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, camping and mushroom hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ruth Ann; two daughters, Sena (Ty) McGruder, of Colfax, and Mindy (Tim) Gelles, of Knoxville; one sister, Phyllis (Jim) Johnson, of Granger; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Thelma; and one brother, Ed.

Memorials may be given to the family.

Gilbert Funeral Home of Albia is in charge of arrangements.
