Ruth Ammerman, 78, of Story City, died Sunday, March 11, at Colonial Manor in Zearing. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be in Alexander. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Ruth Alice Ammerman, 78, of Story City, died Sunday, March 11, at Colonial Manor in Zearing. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, with Pastor Thomas Reuss officiating. A luncheon will follow the service with burial following that in Alexander Cemetery in Alexander.

Ruth Alice Ammerman was born Jan. 12, 1929, in the town of St. Clair, Butler County, to Simon and Alice (Wirtjes) Meyer. She married Jake Ammerman Nov. 22, 1954, at her parents' home.

She helped her husband, Jake, farm for many years. She also worked as a cook and daycare provider at Storytime Daycare in Story City prior to her retirement.

She was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her family and playing bingo and cards with her friends at Cedar Place in Story City, where she lived for several years. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by one son, Larry Ammerman, of Story City; one grandson, Bo (Shayla) Ammerman, of Roland; one granddaughter, Molly Ammerman, of Story City; one sister, Mildred Kloetzer, of Iowa Falls (Bradford); one brother, Raymond (Betty) Meyer, of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jake; two infant sons, David and Leroy; and one sister, Marlys Meyer.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.
