Richard "Dick" Brinkman, 84, of Ames, died Thursday, March 8, at Marshalltown Medical Center. Private family services are planned for a later date.
Dick Brinkman was born March 11, 1922, in Des Moines, and lived in Clear Lake before moving to Ames more than 40 years ago. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and worked in sales for KASI Radio and the Ames Advertiser.
He is survived by one son, Ron (Peggy) Brinkman, of Clear Lake; one daughter, Vicki Whitman, of Ames; six grandchildren, Kimberly (John) Quintas, Matt (Nancy) Brinkman, Cindy Olthoff, Brian (Kim) McFarland, John (Diane) McFarland, and Julie (Trygve) Olsen; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte, on March 4, 1986; his parents; and seven siblings.
Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines is in charge of arrangements.
