Samuel Benjamin McHose 87, of Sun City Center, FL, died of congestive heart failure there May 11, 2002. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. May 29 at Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada, IA, of which he was a lifelong member.
Mr. McHose was born in Nevada November 5, 1914 and lived in Sun City Center four years. He was the retired chairman of Nevada National Bank, the founder of Nevada Computer Corp., a former superintendent of Quakerdale Home for Boys and had co-owned Nevada Brick and Tile Co. He had co-founded Rec-Chek, which in partnership with the Farm Journal, was one of the first nationally recognized accounting software programs. He was a member of Twentieth Century club and Toastmasters and a past president of Rotary Club. He had served on the boards of the American Bankers and the Iowa bankers associations, Area XI Community College and the Nevada school system. He had been a deacon and elder at his church and was an active volunteer at Sun City Center Recreation Center. He was an organ donor and enjoyed jogging and walking.
He is survived by his wife, Imy; two sons, Don C. of Nevada and Dick of West Des Moines; two daughters, Diane McHose of Los Alamos, NM, and Deb McHose of Martinsdale; a brother, Don W. of Nevada; a sister, Betty Maloney of Fallbrook, CA; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
