Anita Mae Lock, 82, of Nevada, died Monday, Feb. 12, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Chet Ryan Mortuary with the Rev. David Burling officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Nevada.
Anita Mae Lock was born May 24, 1924, in Byron, Okla., to George and Neva (VanGeesen) Creek. She married John Hainline Jr. in 1940. He died Jan. 1, 1975. She married Loren L. Lock July 24, 1955, in Arkansas. She was a member of First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ in Nevada and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid Hawkeye fan.
She is survived by one son, Jerry (Sharon) Hainline, of Seattle; one daughter, Rebecca (Dan) Vaughn, of Nevada; five grandsons, Johnathon, Joshua and Jacob Vaughn, and Jerrod and Jerramy Hainline; three great-granddaughters, Skias Kay, Evanthea Lee Hainline, and one en route from China; and two special daughters, Lisa Vaughn and her children Matthew, Megan, Mackenzie and Kay Fleshman and her children Michael and Mary Ann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren Lock, on May 10, 1998; and one sister, Juanita Maxine Garner.
Visitation with the family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.
Vern and Kay Fleshman, godchildren, are walking in memory of Anita in the Breast Cancer 3Day Event in Boston, Mass. Memorial donations may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and directed to Kay Fleshman, 2000 Fifth St., Nevada, IA, 50201.
Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
