THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, February 11, 2007.

June 1, 1923 - Feb. 9, 2007

Carroll Anderson, 83, of Story City, died at home Friday, Feb. 9. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial will follow the service in Story City Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Elim Lutheran Church from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Randall.

Carroll Anderson was born June 1, 1923, in Scott Township in Hamilton County, to parents Arthur John and Marie J. (Anderson) Anderson. He married Irene Thelma Hougland March 31, 1945 in Story City. She died Nov. 2, 2006.

He was a lifetime member of Elim Lutheran Church in Randall and was on the church council there several times. He farmed near Jewell until 1987 when he retired and moved to Story City. He was on the Randall Coop Board, an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. He especially enjoyed his kids and grandkids.

He is survived by four sons, Gary (Dee) Anderson, of Jewell, Jim (Ann) Anderson, of Boone, Craig (Sylvia) Anderson, of Roland, and John (Lori) Anderson, of Story City; one daughter, Vicki (Jim) Breson, of Kay, Texas; one brother Merlin (Hazel) Anderson, of Iowa Falls; one sister Opal Walther, of Cedar Falls; one brother-in-law Herman Hougland, of Story City; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Thorsbakken, of Story City, and Ellen Hougland, of Randall; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
