Arlene Ruth Raker died Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Madrid Home. Services will be at noon Friday, Feb. 9, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater, with visitation one hour prior to the services.

Arlene Ruth Raker was born Sept. 9, 1917, on a farm near Sheldahl to Fred and Emma (Hitz) Mosebach. She graduated from Sheldahl High School in 1934. She married Arthur E. Carlson Nov. 21, 1934. They farmed north of Madrid and raised two daughters. When Art became ill, the family moved to Slater, where he passed away in May 1953.

On April 9, 1955, Arlene married Charles L. Raker, a contractor in Slater. Together they enjoyed traveling, attending sporting events, golfing, playing cards with friends and 18 years as "snowbirds" in Arizona.

She was a farmwife, homemaker and worked for the Slater Creamery and in a floral shop in Huxley for many years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, a charter member of the JU Club and the Saturday Night club. She loved to play games and cards and especially enjoyed winning.

She is survived by two daughters, Darla (David) Twit, of Johnston, and Jana (Brian) Cox, of Grimes; two grandchildren, Brian (Katie) Cox, of Johnston, and Tawni (Robert) Cramer, of Naperville, Ill.; four great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Lois (Dick) Hein, of Dysart; stepson-in-law, Frank Troutwine, of Colona, Ill., six step-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; eight step great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two sisters, Irma Harmon and Ella Rose Conrad; two brothers, Albert and Earl Mosebach; and a stepdaughter, Janice Troutwine.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater or the Madrid Nursing Home.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater is in charge of arrangements.
