Fern Marie Lynch, 89 of Nevada died on Friday, January 26, 2007 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral mass was Wednesday, January 31 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial followed in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.

Fern was born on February 22, 1917 in Walker, Missouri to Leslie and Myrtle (Humbert) Gowin. On March 28, 1935 she married LeRoy Scott in Nevada, MO. He preceded Fern in death on August 8, 1963. She married Floyd D. Lynch on October 3, 1964 in Ames. She had been employed at the Home Cafe in Nevada and the Sheldon-Munn Hotel in Ames. Fern was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She loved being with her family.

Fern is survived by a son, Eugene Wayne (Karen) Scott of Las Vegas, NV; 3 daughters, Dorothy (Charles) Sharp of Cottonwood, AZ, Barbara (Clifford) Pannkuk of Barnum, IA and Charlotte (Alvin) Klein of Nevada; a step-son, Jim (Karin) Lynch of Nevada; 2 brothers, Leslie Gowin of Palmdale, CA and Robert "Bobby" Gowin of Nevada, MO; 2 sisters, Lucille Shumaker of Nevada, MO and Margie Fisher of Adrian, MO; 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, brothers Glenn, John "Clayton", and Billy Gowin, a sister Frances Dixon, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

The family received friends on January 30 at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada. A Vigil service was held.

A memorial fund has been established.
