THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, January 28, 2007.

A Nebraska native, Johnson attended Albion High School and received his DVM degree from Colorado A&M. During World War II, he served the Army Corp of Engineers in Panama, Canada, and Tennessee. He spent most of his working years with the Federal Bureau of Animal Industry, retiring in 1973. He moved to Salem, Ore., from Arkansas in 1978. His memberships included AVMA, NARFE and Fruitland Community Church.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; two daughters, Elizabeth Doughman of Salem, Ore., and Linda Perfilio, of Georgia; three sons George, of Minnesota, and Richard and Brian, of Iowa; one sister Rosamond Nelson, of Mesa, Ariz.; grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Private family services are pending. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, Salem, Ore.
