THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, January 28, 2007.

Fern Marie Lynch, 89, of Nevada, died Friday, Jan. 26, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Nevada, with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.

Fern was born Feb. 22, 1917, in Walker, Mo., to Leslie and Myrtle (Humbert) Gowin. She married LeRoy Scott March 28, 1935, in Nevada, Mo. He preceded Fern in death on Aug. 8, 1963. She married Floyd D. Lynch Oct. 3, 1964, in Ames. She had been employed at the Home Café, in Nevada, and the Sheldon-Munn Hotel, in Ames. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She loved being with her family.

She is survived by one son, Eugene Wayne (Karen) Scott, of Las Vegas; three daughters, Dorothy (Charles) Sharp, of Cottonwood, Ariz., Barbara (Clifford) Pannkuk, of Barnum, and Charlotte (Alvin) Klein, of Nevada; one stepson, Jim (Karin) Lynch, of Nevada; two brothers, Leslie Gowin of Palmdale, Calif., and Robert "Bobby" Gowin, of Nevada, Mo.; two sisters, Lucille Shumaker, of Nevada, Mo., and Margie Fisher, of Adrian, Mo.; 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; three brothers, Glenn, John "Clayton" and Billy Gowin; one sister, Frances Dixon; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Chet Ryan Mortuary, in Nevada. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established.
