Wayne E. Nordholm, age 70 of Boone, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at the Boone County Hospital of Boone
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2006 at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone. Rev. Lindsay Watkins officiated. Burial was in the Linwood Park Cemetery of Boone. Memorials may be made to the family to be used at their discretion.
Wayne was born on June 25, 1936 in Sac County, Iowa, the son of Merrill Eugene and Doris Jean (Herrig) Nordholm. He graduated in 1954 from Lake View High School in Lake View, Iowa. Wayne married Phyllis Jean Schade on July 17, 1955 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Sac City, Iowa. He later attended night school at DMACC for 3 years and received his Accounting Degree. Wayne worked for Hallett Materials of Boone in the accounting office until 1968. He then worked as a teller until 1973 at the Citizens National Bank of Boone. Then from 1974 to 1979 he worked as Branch Manager for the Hawkeye Federal Savings and Loan in Story City, then from 1979 to 1994 he worked as a Maintenance Director for the Episcopal Center in Boone County. He retired and kept busy with his Handyman Business, WEN Services.
Wayne was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone. He sang in the church choir and served as Treasurer of the church. He was a founding member of the Story City Kiwanis in the Mid 70's. Wayne enjoyed reading Western Novels and enjoyed playing games on his computer.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Audrey Riddle. Wayne is survived by his wife, Phyllis Nordholm of Boone, IA; his daughter, Vicky Fagerland and her husband David of Nevada, IA; his son, Tim Nordholm and his wife Gail of Story City, IA; his son, Mark Nordholm and his wife Gwen of Maxwell, IA; his son, Troy Nordholm and his wife Sheri of Boone, IA; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
